A landslide demolished the fishing village of Kagoshima prefecture, due to excessive rainfall. Houses together with the inhabitants were submerged in the sea. There were thirty deaths.
NATIONAL BANK. (Received this day at 9.25 a.m.) LONDON, July 10. At a meeting of the National Bank of New Zealand Sir W. Pember Reeves (Chairman) said he regretted to-notice the attacks on banks trading- in the Dominion, lie had no authority to speak for other banks, but it had been a settled policy of the National Bank to help the primary producers ih New Zealand in every legitimate way. The National Bank had a large connection with the primary producers and very many solid valued members of th section off the people were among th Bank’s clients. It was altogetlv incorrect to suggest that '.dividend mainly came from profits made out r business with farmers and farmer. 1 companies. >.
