SOUTHERN CROSS
A ROUGH JOURNEY AND NARROW ESCAPE.

For the whole five hundred miles to Allahabad, the Southern Cross experienced a strong head wind. They landed at the wrong place at Allahabad and then found it impossible to restart the right, propellor. Finally after an hour’s persistence, Ulm succeeding in restarting the blade and the aviators took off for the proper aerodrome at Bamrauli., They narrowly missed a half hidden wire fence, owing to having only two hundred yards of a. runway. Smith stated that never since they had begun their adventurous journey, had the engine given so much trouble, which he attributed to the great heat of the tropics whicli the flyers are finding almost unbearable.
ARRIVAL AT KARACHI. (Received this dav at 10 a.m.) KARACHI, July 4: The Southern Cross arrived at four this afternoon-. Bad luck continued pn the journey from Allahabad. Slight engine trouble arose and adjustments will have to be made here. . The crew now hope to reach London on Sunday.
