SIR RONALD ROSS
VALUABLE RESEARCH IN , MALARIA.
RECOGNISED BY MEDICAL SOCIETY.
(British Official Wireless.)
RUGBY, June 23
The triennial gold medal for distinguished medical services was presented last night by the West London Medical and Chirurgical Society to Sir Ronald Ross for his discoveries and work in connexion with malaria. Sir Ronald Ross, who is aged 72, was too ill to speak and after receiving the modal was helped to walk from the hall,.
Dr Sanguinotti, who made the presentation, said that although Sir Ronald Ross was.the author of a tremendous medical discovery it was certainly not a money-making one for him. In fact, be would have done better for himself if lie had discovered a new boot polish or something of that kind. It was, however, invaluable to humanity.
Sir Ronald Ross’s researches so depleted his resources that lie was compelled last November to sell liis archives to his malaria discoveries for £2OOO.
