SMALLPOX OUTBREAK
AUSTRALIA LEAGUE BOYS BRING ILLNESS. SYDNEY; June 24. A definite ease of smallpox was diagnoised to-day, the patient being one of the Young Australia League boys, who returned by the Aoratigi on Saturday from their tour abroad. When the vessel berthed, two boys were under the doctor. One was suffering from cliicken-pOx, and 'is recovering. The other had developed small-pox. The Health Department is calling up all the other Young Australian League boys,. passengers to the number of 438 and the crew of 350, for examination and possible vaccination. The Union Steam Ship Company immediately informed Mr J. Simons, officer in charge of the boys while on the tour, who stated that there bad been eight cases with symptoms similar to those shown by the stricken boy. All the cases wore in Canada or America, and all were diagnosed as cliickenpox. ANOTHER CASE. SYDNEY, June 25. Another young Australian League tourist lias been sent to quarantine. His is believed to be a small-pox case. A big round-up of the Aorangi’s passengers and crew thronged the Health Officer’s rooms to-day for examination and vaccination.
