HOKITIKA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

MONDAY, JUNE lOtli. The Committee met nt 7 p.m. Present: —Messrs A. C. Armstrong (Chairman), Pcdder, Swenev, Richards, Shannon, Breeze, Chesterman, Conning, and .Mrs Wilson. The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From Minister of Education in reply to request to fill vacanacy in dental clinic slating the position had been filled.—Received. From Director of Dental Department, notifying appointment of Miss Maloney to Hokitika district as dental nurse.—Received.

From Education Board, approving of supply of timber for garden plots; notifying appointment of Mrs Woolhou.se aS dressmaking instructress. —Received. From Chairman, High School Board, in regard to typewriters.—Received. The Chairman, Secretary and Rector were deputed to interview Hon. H. D. Michel in regard to the supply of additional typewriters.

Mrs Wilson (Clinic Committee) reported an visit, and recommended some small requirements. —Re etved and adopted. Accounts as scheduled were passed for payment. From the Rector (Mr E. Partridge) reporting number on roll: primary 309 (average attendance 280.8), secondary L();j (average attendance 102.3) ; asking for a few requirements. —Received and adopted. The Visiting Committee (Messrs Swcney and Richards) submitted a repoit. —Received.

The Secretary reported to the Committee tiiat Mr W. Newman had donated a valuable cup for hockey competitions. -It was resolved to ask the Rector to confer with the school. teachers with a view to forming a school hockev team to compete for the cup.

Messrs Pedder and Chesterman were appointed visitors for the month. The meeting terminated at 8 p.m.
