WELLINGTON, May 31

Sir Joseph Ward gave a lengthy statement to-day, covering tin* operations of the Public Trust for the year ended Alarch 31st. The business transacted exceeded all previous records, the increase being over £1.000,000 in the net value of estates. This was the first time it had exceeded that figure. The increase wa.s accounted for by the great volume of new business, estimates representing a total value of £7,091,000 having been accepted for administration—the largest volume of new business ever written on the books.
