FIRE IN A LAUNDRY

DC NED IN, Juno 1

Damage estimated at £BO3 was done as the result of a fire which broke out in a laundry building at Waipiata sanatorium.

The outbreak apparently began in a drying room and within a few minutes the front portion of the building was a mass of flames. The staff was able to save the rear portion and boiler. The remainder of the machinery was badly damaged. The building was insured for £I2OO and the machinery: which bail been in position only nine monllls, was covered bv £IOOO.
