TAIHAPE, May 31. Another hiasiing accident occurred lit 10.30 this morning.
A madman named Patrick Irwin, son-in-law of Herbert \) hale, was placing plugs of gelignite in a big rock at Bennett’s Siding, near Taihape, when one plug stuck in the lio'e. Irwin tried to force it down with the handle of a shovel. There was no detonator or fuse in the hole, hut an explosion occur- '. !,w n line hi- jaw smashed to pulp. |-(> lies in a crecarioiis condition in h vitai.
