Duncan, made his customary bad start. Hagen won the first two holes, and then there came a typical Duncan patch, which included holing eight yard and ten yard putts. Despite; the fact that Hagen made not the semblance of a mistake, Duncan first led at the tenth. It was all square at the sixteenth and Duncan lost a chance of winning the seventeenth when he missed a three yard putt. All square at the eighteenth, provided a fitting climax. Both 'were on the green in two. Hagen from fifteen yards putted. He first lipped the hole and laid Duncan dead stymie. Duncan from twelve yards had to play over a bank. The ball hit five feet wide of the hole, came round beautifully and dropped in, amid tremendous cheering. In the ladies’ golf, in the fifth round Joyce We the red benj Molly Gourlay 7—6. Miss Park beat lDnid Wilson at the nineteenth. Gleiina Collett beat Mrs Wn tson 3—2. Mrs Guedalla beat Miss Pyman 3—2. LONDON, May 16. At Moortown only two Americans remain in the last eight. Turnest in the second round beating Horton Smith 3 and 2; Diegel beating Dudley 5 and'4; Whitcombe and Young 2 up; Duncan and Ockenden 5 and 4; Davies and Harvers 3 and 2; Compston and Mitchell 4 .and *2; Tolly and Twine G and 5; Taylor and Brews 3 and 2. In the ladies championship semifinals, Miss Collett beat Miss Park 4 and 3; Miss Wethered beat Mrs Guedalla 5 and 4.
