FIVE FRAUD CHARGES

AUCKLAND, May 14
Tho trial of Albert Hong D-uk, a Chinese clerk, oil five charges of false pretences and two charges of theft, concluded to-day in tlie Supreme Court, the accused beiiijg found guilty on all charges.
It was alleged bv Hie Crown witnesses that Duk had obtained £92 12s fid from a young Chinese, Sing Son A'ing, b v fabe nrctenees. A’ing said that lie had paid the money to Duk so that extensions of his temporary residence permit of six months might be obtained from the Customs Depnrtmotut. No extension of the original permit, granted in 1926, was applied for or granted, and recently A’iug went to gaol for overstaying his permit. As to theft f-i’err'Cs iu’-olving total suns of £33 2s 44. Hie accused was alleged to have failed to account for £3B paid to him bv "“'ai Lee for pajjpnent to AA T . H. Madill for root and buildings, and £3 2s 4cl paid to him by Ah Hong, for payment to the Auckland Electric Power Board.
