The huni was in full cry. and the huntsmen and the whip were riding across a paddock, when they came to a netting fence. The huntsmen negotiated it safely, but Mr McDonald's horse half rose and crashed into the ience, tin rider being thrown heavily on to his head and receiving a ’broken neck. Dr. G. 1C Kingston was sent for, but on his arrival could only pronounce life to be extinct. .Mr McDonald was a popular sportsman and his untimely death is regretted by lifs fellow members of tfhe South Canterbury Hunt, and a large circle of his friends. Tt was his first season as whip, and he was shaping well in that capacity.
