VARIOUS DECISIONS. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 6. Tn the course of a report to the North Island Motor Union, the President said the Associations had been circularised to the effect that subject to a local body being advised ctf a dangerous defect in the road, a motorist in the event of accident, had a legal claim, but in the absence of such notice the motorist put himself in the position of being practically without a legal remedy. A resolution was carried unanimously reaffirming the report sent to Hie Chairman of the Highways Board by Wanganui Association, in regard to hanking on curves. Jt was resolved to bring the matter of adequate punishment for theft oi motor ears hoiore the Minister oi ,1 ustice, also the matter of drunken motorists. The report, which was adopted, contained a concluding clause which congratulated the Premier on setting up the Transport Ministry. The President said Mr Hunter’s appointment as a Transport Commissioner met with the entire approval of the executive. An Auckland remit as follows, was carried :— Notwithstanding the proposal to form two Highway Boards for the Dominion, this does not meet the request of the Motor Associations foi more representation, and it is contended that m Jurists should have two representatives on each Boaid. A suggestion of the executive that the matter of definition of business and private ears under the insurance scheme should be thoroughly discussed, and a resolution passed asking tint Government that more elasticity should be shown in the definition of private car used occasionally for business purposes, and that the Act be amended accordingly, was appioved, and a motion carried unanimously that Government he approached on. the matter.
