WELLINGTON, April 16

An outline of the operations of the State Advances Department from December 10, 1928, to April 10, was given by the Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. Sir Joseph Ward) at the annual meeting to-night of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce.

The loans to settlers for the period under review, said the Prime Minister, amounted to £1.211,420, and the loans to workers amounted to £941,990, making a grand total of £2,153,410. The new loan monies added to the Department for that period amounted to £3,012,094, the balance of loan monies held available for investment was £2,395,544.
