BALLOT TO STOP STRIKE.

MELBOURNE, April 10. The timber workers ballot (on the question of calling oil the stiike against longer hours) has resulted: No .: 5318 Yes No majority 4586
Judge Lukin, of the Arbitration Court said that evidently the precautions that were taken to obtain a genuine expression of opinion from the workers as to their attitude towards the strike had been frustrated. Twenty-five per cent of tbe Sydney baliot papers bore evidence that they had been improperly dealt with, a«d that the secrecy of the ballot had been violated.
