The sentence of ten lashes imposed on the farmer will not be carried out till the Prime Minister and his colleagues have carried out ail investigation.

in connection with the announcement that the sentence of ten lashes, passed on a farmer yesterday, had not been imposed, pending an investigation by the Prime Minister, the Argus, commenting on the matter, says :T he Judge struck a blow for justice which will reverberate throughout Africa. The Baud Mail states: No matter what developments ensue, it is a gratification to all right-thinking people lliat an exemplary sentence has been passed on a brutal fellow.
