HARDSHIP CASES
ACTION BY MR BLACK M.P

WELLINGTON,, April 6
Quito recently Murchison was sadly shocked to learn that a very respected returned soldier had, because of bis hard lot, taken his life. Mr G. C. Black, M.P. referred the case to the Government.
Mr Black has been advised by tiie Hon G. W. Forbes, Minister of Lands, that be is obtaining a report on the history of the case,, and will be pleased to supply the Member for Motueka with a copy of it when it comes to hand.
The Minister, in his telegram, adds: “I am also considering the comments of. the Coroner, and your suggestion that inquiry should be made into other cases in Motueka electorate. It, as a result of your investigations, you can supply names of any settlers whose ease should be specially investigated, I shall be glad to receive them.” Air Black has wired the Minister thanking him for the attitude lie lias taken up in this matter, aim will be pleased to receive particulars of cases other than those at present in bis possession, so tnat a competent inquiry might be bad into the returned soldier settlements in bis electorate.
