Mercifully for those concerned, only a few people witnessed a comical incident which took place the other evening (says tin* Taranaki “Herald”). \ young man with a lady pillion rider, having started liis motor-cycle, either mi-owed his clutch too suddenly or started before bis fair passenger was ready, for the machine slipped from underneath, her, and she sat down with a thump on the hard road while the m•c , ° on its way. The driver quickly realised (lie position, and returned to find bis companion still sitting on the road, and laughing heavily at her mishap. At the next attempt the cycle was put into motion very gingerly, and it was travelling at a most reasonable pace when it disappeared from view.
