INFLUENZA
«»■)» (By Telegraph—Press Association). AUCKLAND, April 3 Another islander in the crew of the Alaui Pomnre has contracted the influenza to-day. 'There are now 23 patients aboard. I'lioy arc all still kept on hoard the .ship, and are attended by two nurses and a private medical practitioner. The vessel came out of dock to-dav, ami she is anchored in tile stream. 'Hie deadlock, however, as to whether the cases should he taken to the Auckland Hospital, or sent to the quarantine station at Alotuilii Island, continues. An improvement in twelve cases was recorded to-day. The Health Department states that it has been advised by a doctor visiting the vessel that the removal of the improving patients to Alotuilii Island for quarantine purposes was entirely impracticable. It was considered unsafe to move any of the men for any distance in their present condition. Acting on this advice, and on an inspection made by Departmental officers, it was agreed that the patients would have to remain on the vessel, unless arrangements could lie made to remove them to the Auckland Hospital.
