An incident which demonstrated the sagacity of the trained sheep-dog occurred at the Dannevirke sheep-dog trials. The dog had difficulty in heading one of a number of sheep into the pen. Eventually the sheep was induced to partly enter the enclosure, hut was not in sufficient for the gate to he ’dosed. A false move on the part of the dog would have been unfortunate, and spectators Waited with interest for what would happen. To their astonishment the dog erept up quietly behind tliO| sheep and using both front paws, pushed it the remainder of the dis- , tauce.
