Heavy rain fell overnight and all the morning, which hindered the start till 3.10 p.m. Canterbury lost four wickets for doctored. Queensland in their second innings made 18] for 9,. and thus won by a wicket. Levy made 85 not out, and Oxenham 17. In the howling, Grimmott took 5 for 49, and Wall 3 lor 57. The game had a sensational ending. When nine wickets were down, Queensland were requiring only one run win. Levy, who was batting, hit one to, Grinlmett, who dropped it. Then Grimmett flung the ball disgustedly to the other bowler. Wall, who missed it, and the batsman ran one for/the overthrow, and thus won the match by a wicket.
ENGLISHMEN DRAW AT GOULBURN. SYDNEY, February 25. The Englishmen began a match against the Southern Districts to-day at Goulburn. Tho local side won the toss, and sent the Englishmen to the wickets in fine weather. England in the first innnigs made 250. Hobbs scored 54, Ames 94, and Tyldesley 33. Jardine and Hendren went cheaply. In the howling, Lampe took 5 for 4b, Tick ll er 3 for 48. Southern Districts in the first innings made 51 for fourwickets. SYDNEY, February 26. At Boulburn the Southern Districts in the first innings made 13-s—Lampe-not out. 26, Allsop 24. In tho howling. Freeman took 8 lor 66. Geary 2 for 34, and Larwood 2 for 23. England in the second made 226 lor 5 and declared. Jardine made 85 not out-, Larwood 44, and Duckworth 41. Southern Districts in the second made 135 for four, Lampe scoring 34, Allsop (not out) 77. In the howling, Freeman took 5 for 47. The match was drawn. HOKITTKA V. KANIERI. At the Mental Hospital grounds on Sunday the final cup match of the season took place, Kanieri winning by an innings and 55 rus. Hokitika made 48
(C. J. King 16, Keller 11) and 46 (E. Waller ,32 not out). In the 'first innings Webster took 7 for 31, Owens 2 for 7, and Fleming 1 for 0, and in the second innings Webster took 5 for 28, Morris 2 for 11, and Fleming 2 for .3. Kanieri made 139 (J. Webster 56, 11. Wells 42, Cutler 16, S. Wells 10). Daly took 5 wickets and Turner, King, Keller, Stanleton one each.
