The Mayor has declared a public holiday for AVedne.sday next, tlie occasion of tlie monster picnic to Lake Mnhinnpun. It is notified in this issue that a grand ball in aid of the Three Mil© Tennis Club will be held at the Hall, Aralmra Road, next Friday night. There will be a home-made supper provided. Everything will be arranged for i.ie enjoyment of patrons. The funeral to Karoro Cemetary, late Mr John P. Brennan, was very largely attended, those present including the members of the Hibernian .Society, in which deceased formerly held various offices, including that of President. The service at St. Patrick’s Church and at th" cemetery were conducted by the Rev. Father J. Long. J. Kyle and AYhibley (s.), won the final of the annual pairs competition of the Greymo'uth Bowling Club on Friday evening, defeating Steele (substitute for Graham) and Miller (s.) hy 21 to 15 on the 20th. head. Kyle and AVhibley were also winners of the Club Pairs competition two seasons ago. AVhibley has a good record this year, and besides his last success, was in the final of the Club’s Singles competition, and with Moss he won the Centre Pairs at the recent tournament at Hokitika.
