A NEW CONTROL

The tramways in Sydney, which are now under Government control, arc to .be vested in a Transuort Board. and separated I rum the Railway Department. The Governinoni has prepared a hill providing for such a board and for a separate trust. The latter will determine its policy and there will he an ehutive body, lh(> president of which will be a. traffic expert appointed by the Government. Other representatives v. ill be elected by business men, the shires, the municipalities, and the general public all of whom will ieceive fees.

The Trust will have wide ) ewers over metropolitan transport. It will be empowered to delicen.se. as well as to license omnibuses, and to prevent the overlapping of services. The present employees will retain all their existing privileges, hut the newcomers will not enjoy them.
