NEW YORK, Feb. .19,

A wild stampede, resulting in the injury of from fifty to a hundred people, occurred when a train caught fire to-night in the tubes under the Hudson River from New York to New Jersey. So far as is known, in the general confusion, none were killed, but it is feared that a number of those burned and trampled will die. Traffic throughout the tube system was blocked, causing much additional confusion. Lights went opt <*nd a panicstarted. Passengers fought each other in attempting to escape the flames, police reserves restored order with great difficulty ,in avoiding being, crushed themselves. by the frantic mob. The majority of the injured were women and a few children.
