LONDON, February 14. j\s an outcome of lengthy negotiations Vickers Limited is placing at the disposal of Moir and Owen, a Vickers Alellore aeroplane of all-metal construction. Technically it is regarded as one of ;the most interesting aircraft pro? duped in recent times. The wingspan is 76 feet,-, length 51 feet, height over all 20 ifeet. It weights 4,550 pounds nnd carries a load of 4,950 pounds, making the total weight fully loaded 9,500 pounds. It was built as a freight carrying machine and purchased by the Air Ministry. Vickers are fitting it with a now Armstrong-Siddeley Jaguar engine of j 460 horsepower. This is the same type about to be introduced by the Imperial Airways on the London-Paris route and is a considerable improvement on' tho type used by Sir Alan Cobham on his Australian flight. It lias a geared propelior, permitting the propellor to run more slowly than the engine. The' machine has a speed in excess of one hundred miles an hour at a height of five thousand feet. The cruising speed is eighty to eighty-live miles an hour and the consumption is approximately 20 gailone per hour.
