The Directors of the Standard Insurance Coy. have declared a dividend oi Is 3d for the half year ended December 31st. SUNSPOTS. ' WELLINGTON, February 12. Mr G. V. Hudson reports three large sunspots in the centre ot the sun’s disc. Auroras and magnetic disturbances may be expected. OILFIELDS’ REPORT. GISBORNE. Feb. 12. The Taranaki oil report lor the week ended February 9th: Gisborne No. 2 well—Progress was delayed bv caving, pulling back Si in. diameter casing and drilling out cavings in the well. BUY NEW ZEALAND GOODS. NAPIER, February 11. The Master Grocers’ Federation opened the sixth annual conference here this morning. Delegates were present from all over the Dominion. Hon. J. G. Cobbe, Minister off Commerce and Industries, in his opening address, appealed to all traders to support Now Zoaland goods, which in quality and packing equalled the overseas article. He indicated that the cash-order trading inquiry would open in Wellington about the end of the month, and asked for the Conference’s, opinions. Referring to Government interference in business lie said he would prefer that traders settled their marketing problems for themselves.
