RIVERS RISING. • (Australian Press Association) SYDNEY, Feb. 9. A message from lvcmpsey states serious floods occurred on the Alack; iy river, and as it is still raining heavily the indications are that the position will become worse. The river is a raging torrent, and low-lying country is inundated by water, which is four Let deep in some places at Kempsey. A majority of the people vacated their homes. A few people are still marooned but are not in serious danger. Disastrous floods are also feared in otnei north coast rivers.

IN NORTH OF X.S.W. COAST. SYDNEY. Feb. 10. There are floods in the North Coast districts, the worst for years. Several towns are inundated. Two men were drowned at one place. Others wenmarooned at a hotel, from which an old surf boat rescued them. The rail and road communications are disorganised. Much stock is being washed to sea.
