A SERIOUS FIRE
IN SYDNEY WAREHOUSE. SYDNEY, Feb. 9. At an early hour this morning, roster House, in the City, was gutted by fire. The whole six doors were abhi.'.c when the brigades arrived. Firemen concentrated on saving the surrounding buildings in the congested area. The damage is estimated at £50,000.
EXTENSION FEARED. SYDNEY, Fob. 0. • The extension of the fight in the timber workers strike is if eared. No reply was received by the Federal Minister few Industry, Mr Latham, t,o the appeal which be issued. Grave fear.--are held among trade union affinals that hopes of financing the struggle will not bo realised. It is believed the levy system will not operate successfully, as an increasing number of members of allied unions are being thrown out of employment. SYDNEY, Fob. 10. The fire damage is estimated at £OO,OOO. The stocks consisted largely of furs and leather goods. A fire in the small town of Tottenham wiped out the post office and chief business elates in the main street. The damage is estimated at £IO.OOO.
