SPANISH AFFAIRS
FRENCH COMMENT. (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received this day at 8 a.m.) PARIS, February 0. “The Eiid of a Dictatorship” is how the “Journal des Debates” heads the Madrid correspondent’s despatch, which says outwardly the Government's victory is complete 'nit actually it is only a police victory. The political question remains unsolved. “The spirit cif rebellion against the Government is reaching a point whereat the people are ready to risk their lives. The dictatorship has ceased to have the support of the bulk ot public opinion.” It asserts large sections of the army and navy are seething with unrest. Pe Rivera asserts the rebellion is so thoroughly nipped in the hud on this occasion that there will be no repetitions. The guilty would accordingly be punished, but terrorism need imt bo feared. What most angered him was the barm done Spain’s credit and prestige abroad. All this damage was done, says Do Rivera, by one man, supported by a small number ol malcontents able to disturb and alarm the country for a few days.
