There is considerable interest in a report that Signor Mussolini has promised to support the Pope if he should ask that the Vatican should be admitted to the League,.of Nations, owing to a desire for closer contact with humanitarian questions. It is pointed out that the Vatican has already participated in the League’s meetings in.,connection with tho reform of the Calendar, but it requires a . two-thirds majority of the League Assembly for the Vatican’s recognition.,as a political state.
