ON FLORIDA COAST. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph —Copyngnt). NEW YORK, Jan. 20. The Dollar Bine’s steamer, President Garfield, is ashore, but she is in no immediate danger, after running aground solidly fore and a;lt oil the Mnntanilla Shoal, off Point .Jupiter, in Florida. The Munson liner, “Pan America,’’ has reported that the passengers, baggage and mail were being transferred to her decks, and she stated that the weather was excellent and she would stand by the President Garfield. The President Garfield grounded early in the day. At first she gave no indication of the trouble and her position was erroneously received, but later it was corrected. The President Garfield was going to Havana, after leaving New York .on January 17th on a round the world cruise. PASSENGERS SAFE. NEW YORK, Jan. 20. The stranded liner President Garfield’s passengers and mail were safely transferred to the “Pan-America." ' Five naval vessels from southon ports are hurrying to render assistance. Apparently.there is no immediate danger.
