MISSING GIRLS. Australian Press A^sn.—United Service (Received this day at 12.25. p.m.) SYDNEY, January 16. Twenty Sydney girls are missing from their homes since Novetnbet. One, aged thirteen, whose mysterious disappearance from Glebe Home caused a sensation two months ago, lias lieen found at Hay. She denies she is the missing girl. The circumstances point to the fact that a man was responsible for her disappearance. For six months prior to leaving home, the girl had not attended school, although she left home every morning ostensibly for school. Two other girls, aged sixteen and seventeen, both with u stage inclination, have vanished. The suggestion \is that they were enticed away by bogus theatrical managers. REDUCED WHEAT FREIGHTS. (Received this day at 11.25. a.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 16. Substantial reductions in wheat and flour freights to United Kingdom, Europe and South Alrica. have been announced by the Oversea Shipping Representatives Assn. Some reductions amount to as much as 20 per cent. Shippers are unanimous, that tins will tend to induce greater trade in these products and materially help growers in view of the low price they have been receiving abroad. Sydney and Melbourne wheat markets have hardened as a result of the decision. SEARCH FOR CHILD SYDNEY, Jan. 16. Police and over one hundred civilians combed the scrub around Kentucky on George’s River yesterday until midnight for the two year-okl, Leslie Fawcett, who mysteriously disappeared from a sulky whore he was left asleep. It is not known whether lie was carried away by an unknown person or wandered into the bush. ( It is feared the child may have fallen into the river, which the police dragged for hours without result. SAWMILL CLOSES DOWN.' MELBOURNE, Jan. 16. As a result of the timber trade dispute, sawmills of Gunning Smith and Company, at Warburton, have closed down, and about 50 men are tlirown out of employment. •
