FIRE BRIGADES' CONFERENCE

AI RIOTING OF COMMITTEE. The general committee of the Fire Brigades Conference and Demonstration met at the Town Hal! last evening, the Mayor (Mr (1. A. Perry) presiding. It was resolved to make the necessary enquiries for a programme for the fireworks display. Messrs Thompson, Ross, Lukin, Lynn and Stapleton were appointed a subcommittee to carry out the social dances. Messrs Houston (2), Adamson, Lawn, Lynn and Heenan were appointed . a sub-committee to arrange aquatic sports at Lake Mahinapua on picnic day (Wednesday). It was resolved to write to the Municipal Land inviting its assistance in connect ion with the various functions, and also- to write to the heads of the various churches asking for church service' to be held at a uniform hour on jfhe day of the parade, 10.30 being suggested. It was resolved to dispose of the rights to privileges on Cass Square by auction. Various other matters in connection with the functions were discussed and the meeting terminated at 8.30 p.m. with a vote of thanks to the chair.
