Mrs H. A. Thompson was appointed chairwoman. The committee of ladies will assist principally in connection with the civil luncheon to the delegates and to the picnic to Lake Mahinapua.

The programme for the Autumn Meeting of the Westland Racing Club ahicli lias now been drafted and submitted to the racing and trotting authorities for approval is much on the lines of last year’s programme. The hurdle race however, lias been eliminated, and a welter weight handicap .(minimum 9st.) substituted. In addition, there is a high weight handicap, with a minimum of Bst. TTie.se should he attractive events, as there is oltcn a difficulty in securing light weight riders. There are to he two trotting races on the programme also. The programme should prove generally very attractive. The meeting is set. down for Thursday of Raster week (Apri; Itli). The choice of day will enable owners and riders engaged at the Christchurch meeting oil Monday and Tuesday of Raster week, to reach here on the Wednesday, and take part in lue race meeting on Thursday.
