FARMER. DROWNED, (By Telegraph— Press Association). HAMILTON, January 8. At the inquest- on Francis Patrick Dalton, retired -farmer, of Remuera, whose body was recovered from the river at Ngaruawahia yesterday, the verdict was that he had been found drowned, there being no evidence to show how he came to be in the water. The deceased leaves two daughters residing at Christchurch, and one in America. EX PR ESS STB I KUS LOR HY. AUCKLAND, January 9. The Argvlc Street crossing of Kingsland was the scene of another collision to-day, when the Whangarei express crashed into a lorry loaded with min oral waters. Although the front ol this vehicle was smashed, and the axh broken, the driver, Frank Norman, was not even scratched. PENNY POSTAGE. WELLINGTON, January 9. The Secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department (Air G. McNamara) has been notified by the Postal De partment of Canada that Parliament has decided to adopt penny postage foi the ordinary two-ounce letters throughout the British Empire.
