ROUND-TABLE TALK

NO FURTHER APPOINTMENTS TO BE MADE.

WELLINGTON, Dee. 12

There was a meeting of Cabinet this morning. All the Ministers attended. Sir Joseph Ward informed Pressmen afterwards that it was solely a roundtable discussion. No decisions were made, nor was anything mentioned requiring decision. Nothing yet had been done concerning unemployment relief. “No further appointments are to be made,” said Sir Joseph, when questioned regarding the possibility of Mr Jenkins being included in the Ministry. “There is no authority, whatever, for the statements published concerning another appointment, 'and wliat has been published must he contradicted.” Sir Joseph Ward -said that nothing would be done- at present concerning the appointment of a Deputy-Leader of Che Legislative Council, nor were any further appointments being made just now. This morning all private secretaries were introduced to Sir Joseph, and. on behalf of the secretariat, Mr F. 7). Thomson, permanent head of the Prime Minister’s Department, oilered congratulations and assured Sir Joseph of their loyalty and goodwill.

ALLOCATION OF SECRETARIES

AV RLLTNGTON, Dec. 12,

The whole of tho personnel of the Ministerial secretariat has been absorbed and the majority of private secretaries will carry on under the new regime in the departments in which they were serving at tho time of the chain go of Government. The Prime Minister (Sir Joseph Ward), announced this afternoon that the allocation of private sceretario' was as follows: Prime Minister-—Mr C". A. Jeflory. Minister of Lands and Agriculture— Mr A.■ AY. Mulligan. Minister of Defence—Mr G. F. Dixon. Minister of Native Affairs and CookIslands Department—Messrs LT. R. H. Balneayfs and A. J. Conway. Minister of Education—Air W. I. Deavoll. Minister of Labour—Mr F. M. Sherwood. - 'Minister of Public Works—Mr N. E. Hutchings. Minister of Railways—Mr r l. R. Aickin. Postmaster-General —Mr AY. R. King. Minister of Internal Affairs—Mr E. N. G. Poulton. Minister of Marine—Air F. G. Matthews. Min is! or of Health—Air J. T. AVaugh. Attorney-General—Mr S. Y. Jones. It is stated that Mr AV. J. Shanly. private secretary to the ox-Afmister of Agriculture, will Be allocated to a Minister. Mr F. D. Thomson, -permanent head of the Prime Minister’s Department, will, of .course, continue to hold that position.
