A young man named Arthur S. Richards, employed by John Court. Ltd., as a window-dresser, was killed to-night through falling down a lilt well, from tho ?j?c.th floor. He was working overtime on interior decorations. Apparently lie thought the lift was at the sixth floor, hut it was at the bottom.

Tlio Wellington free ambulance has just completed the first, twelve months service and the President of the Ambulance Association (Mr Norwood; said to-day that they had met with very real success, and the future looked very promising indeed. In twelve months. 4129 cases had been handled. The scries of burglaries in Ma.slerton during the past month were added to* on Wednesday ..night, when a residence in Powell Street was broken into and jewellery stolen. Hie intruder, however, was after ibiggoi' booty, as the house was the residence of : Mr Ahrens, Secretary of the Horticultural Society, which that <h>v held a flower show and a considerable sum of money was taken home by him at tea time, but lie took it away again and placed it in safe custody in the town. : The burglary was committed before 10 o’clock, no one being at home.
