George McManus, a. six iootei. weighing 210 pounds, capitulated vol untarily to the police, who imtnedlately arrainged him without hail on a charge of murder of his gambler friend, Arnold Rothsteim. McManus left his overcoat in the room where Rothsteim was murdered on November -Ith. Clues to forty per cent of the big crimes in Now ) ork in tin* last live years were disclosed in a search of sixteen thousand letters which Rothsteim left 'behind him.
