Douglas had the advantage at the turn but Shaw’s Ibetter putting reversed the position. Both played good long games. Shaw 74, Douglas 70. Mclntosh 73, enabled him to establish a lead of 3 on Clements, whose putting was weak. Wight created a sensation by recording 67, winch is an unofficial course record for Balmacewan. He was out in 31, and in in 36. Black played a good 76 which was useless against Wight’s super golf, closest match this morning was between Duncan and Colbeck. There was never more than one between them and in Colbeck’s favour at the end of the round. The gallery that followed the Ross-Sime match were given a finished display of 71 by Ross. It was a very disappointing showing by Sime, who visited the bunkers with short approaches and had putting.

At the golf championship meeting the finalists in the professional championship are A. J. Shaw, and J. McTntosli, and the semi-finalists in the amateur are J. H. Black, J. E. - D. Duncan, T. 11. Horton and R. Ross.

THTRD ROUND AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP. J. L. Black beat C. B. Wight 1 up at the 37th hole; J. E. D. Duncan ibeat S. C. Colbeck 6 and 5; T. H. Horton beat FI. A. Black 4 and 3; K. Ross heat A. G. Sime 12 and 11.

SEMI-FIN AT- PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. A. J. Shaw heat E. S. Douglas 0 and 5; .T. Mclntosh beat J. A. Clements 5 and 4. The professional handicap over 36 holes was won by R,. C. Butters with 150. The amateur stroke handicap was a tie ' between J. W. Trewern (Otago) and F. J. Dawson (Otago), both 72.
