In view of the recent starting fiascos at Elleralie the committee of the Auckland Racing Club has decided that, at future meetings, a special mounted official should be employed with a flag, stationed some distance in front of the start, who, on receiving a flag signal from the starter that the race has not been officially started, will be in a position to recall the field.
