The tote took £37,583 compared with £45,880 oil the corresponding day last year, the total for the meeting being £73,430 against £88,931 last year.

AUCKLAND PRECAUTIONS
AUCKLAND, Oct. 16
In view of the recent starting fiascos at Elleralie the committee of the Auckland Racing Club has decided that, at future meetings, a special mounted official should be employed with a flag, stationed some distance in front of the start, who, on receiving a flag signal from the starter that the race has not been officially started, will be in a position to recall the field.
