PITCHED BATTLE. ‘ IN U.S.A. GAOL. Australian Press Assn.—United Servioe NEW YORK, Sept 10. At Baton Rouge, Louisiana, six convicts were /killed and another was fatally wounded, and eight men were injured in a pitched battle at the Stato Penitentiary, from which the convicts attempted to escape on Sunday. CANADIAN TRADE. MONTREAL, Sept. 10. A message from Edmonton states: Glasgow, interviewed, declared that Canadian farmers appeared unnecessarily alarmed over the shipment of Australian butter. Australian produce rfas placed on the Canadian market lit ,a time when the butter production of that country was at its lowest point. Ho also pointed out- that the value of Canadian products imported by Australians were at present foifr times the amount of Australian goods purchased by Canada.
