Australian Press Assn.—-United Service HICKMAN ARREST REWARDS. (Received this day at 10.15 a.m.) LOS ANGELES, September (1. During tbe height of the Hickman excitement, Los Angeles, went wild offering rewards for his apprehension. When finally boiled down tbe actual fund amounted to 5,500. So many people contributed towards tracking him, that the apportioning of the reward became a difficult task. Tbe final solution was that a committee of busi- j ness men took charge and secured agreements from ' everyone concerned that they would abide by their decision. The Committee then announced the awards: Two policemen, who actually arersted .him, get Cl ,000 each, a haberdasher who sold Hickman a bat and recognised tbe number on ono ot Barker’s 20-dollar bills, gets CoOO. while a similar amount went to a gasoline service station operator, who sold Hickman gas and carefully watched his route.
