Australian Press Assn.—United Service NEW YORK, August 29. At Brookline tennis games, Lott and Hcnnessy defeated Hopman and Crawford 3-6, 0-4, 0-4, 0-4 ; Van Ryan and Allison defeated Cummings and Moon 5-7, 0-2. 0-8, 0-4, 0-4.

In the mixed doubles, Mrs Harper and Gregory defeated Mrs E. V. Hester (New York) and Thalheimer 0-3, 7-5; M.rs S. A. H. Chaplin and Dr Springfield defeated -Mrs William Edicott (Boston) and Landry (France). Brugnon and Cochot’s victory over Washburn and Williams (5-3, -1-0, 6-1, 6-1, makes the semi-final draw for tomorrow lirugnon and C'ochet against Lott and Hennessey and Hnwkes and Patterson against Van Ryan and Allison. With the expectation that the finals will see the Australians matched against France. NEW YORK. August 29. A brief history of Lott and Hennessey’s victory over Crawford and Hopman, showed that the Australians were off form. Lott was erratic, and if pressed the Americans would have been defeated. ’I he first set was evidence of this when both Americans could not maintain their service or handle badlyplaced returns.

Cncliet and Brugnon the next two 7-5, 7-5, when the game ended, owing to darkness.
