Australian Press Assn.—United Service SOUTHERN CROSS. SYDNEY, August 1. The Southern Cross to-day made a successful test flight. Everything was in first-class order. POLISH AVIATION TRAGEDY BAGHDAD, Aug. 1. A Polish attempt to fly from Warsaw to Baghdad and back in 60 hours has ended tragically. Using a Fokker monoplane, they- completed the outward run nt three o’clock in the morning. Tlie Royal Air Force Staff showed flares to guide landing, hut the monoplane crashed. Lieut. Szalns was killed outright. Lieut. Kalina and Mechanic Klosinek were taken to tlie hospital.
