MALING’S CASE
AII,NOT 'CHARGED. (Australian Press Association.) SYDNEY, Aug. 1. Arthur Arnot, the Australian manager for the Babcock-AVilcox Coy., of London, appeared 1 Kit ore the Court today, charged with being privy to certain matters connected with the alleged giving of a bribe in connection with tlie Buiincrong Power House contract. Counsel for Arnot asked for a stay of proceedings on the ground U Arnot had been granted a certificate under the. Secret Commissions Prohibition. Act, testifying that he told the truth, and that such certificate exempted a witness from any criminal proceedings which might be initiated against him. The ALigistrnte reserved his decision until Tuesday next.
A case against ex-Alderman Green was also adjourned till Tuesday.
