LOWENSTEIN MYSTERY

There was a. surprising development in the LoWonstein mystery when the deceased’s pilot, Drew, was about to fly to Brussels in the machine from which the millionaire disappeared. When he informed the Air Ministry, they refused to allow the machine to leave Croydon Aerodrome, as it was proposed to test the theories of the fatality. I ,* Lowenstein’s secretary states he is prepared to mrilie an affidavit that Lowenstein left the aeroplane when crossing the channel. Others of the party,' also Croydon officials, positively declare he started aboard the plane. Pending tlie establishment of Lowenstein’s death, the Memorial Service arranged for 11th. July has been postponed .
ENQUIRY INTO TRAGEDY. (Received this day at 12.25 p.m.) LONDON, July 8. It is understood tlio Air Ministry will take Lowenstein’s machine for a flight and reconstruct the conditions of the tragedy, and also test the possibility of opening the door. Croydon officials are emphatic that Loowenstein embarked in the machine. The “Daily Express” Brussels correspondent says a judge lias been instructed to , hold an inquiry into tlie Lowenstein tragedy at the Palace of Justice to-morrow. The widow has accepted the theory of the accident and denies she has postponed tho in memorium service which will lie held on Wednesday. PARTS, July 8.
French Scotland Yard is not satisfied with the explanation of Lowenstein’s disappearance, but is unable to obtain confirmation of earlier reports that a mysterious neroplane came £own on qnother part of the cojist,
