The match Westland v. Grey to he played on Cass Square should prove an interesting one. On the face of it AVestland should have a distinct advantage but the expected does , not always happen. There should ho an opportunity for both teams to show their capabilities, and if the homo forwards get the hall in the scrum as they should, there should be plenty of opportunity for the hacks to open out in spectacular play. The junior fixtures will he continued the various games being set out above. The bantam seven-a-side, Convent v. School will be played before the big game, commencing at 2.45 p.m. The All Blacks continue their games to-morrow after a, week’s spell since, the first test with a match against Northern Districts (Transvaal, Free State) at Kimberley. On July 21st tho second test is set down for decision at Johannesburg.

AVELLINGTON, July 4
At a meeting of the Alanagement Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union to-night the. Bush Union notified the cancellation of their northern tour except ’the match with AVaiigauui. The Bush Union said thov would not now want the New Zealand Rugby Union’s £25, hut hoped it would he utilised for the benefit of minor associations.
The Horowlieiui.i Union wrote accepting the North v. South Island Minor Unions match on August 4th. Regarding challenges for the Ranfurlv Shield, it was stated that theN.Z.R.U. had to protect the holders and were impartial as to who the holders were. The holders had the right to say which should he shield matches, and it was optional for the holders to take the shield with them when touring after they had held it for two years. If AVairarapa won the shield from Canterbury, the match between Wairarapa and South Canterbury would not be for the shield.
LEAGUE FOOTBALL. ENGLISH TEAM’S VISIT. AUCKLAND, July 5. The Council of the New Zealand League met to-night. The managers of the English League team advised that the itinerary of the tour through the Dominion would he left to the New Zealand Council to arrange. The following programme was approved : t July 30: Arrive at Auckland. August 1: England v South Auckland at Taupiri. August 4: England v New Zealand at Auckland. August, 8: England v Auckland at Auckland. August 11: England v Auckland Province at Auckland. August 14: England v Buller at Westport. August 15: England v Vest Coast at Grevmouth. August 18:' England v New Zealand at Dunedin. August 22: Exhibition game at Invercargill. The appointment of referees to control the test matches between England and New Zealand was discussed at some length, and it was decided to ask the Leagues concerned to submit the names of three refrees to the Council i for approval. These names will bo submitted to the English team.
