THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES.

UIUNGINCi Ui> Fathkis

The mother of 'to-day is bn a pedestal. The father fs, so to say. in the cupboard. Mother's day is becoming an annual festival, and in tile merry mouth of May devoirs are done to her. But “father’s day” is a sickly plant. Americans have tried to make it live, with very poor success. “Bringing up father”, is one oF the exacting tasks undertaken by the modern child. The poor man can hardly be said to enjoy the process. From bis bead the crowns of honour that lie used to wear are being snatched. From being 'master of the lufuso he has degenerated into a much criticised, and somewhat tolerated inmate. Revd. J. J. North.
