TENNIS.

WEST COAST TOURNAMENT. FRIDAY. JANUARY 27th. The weather, after a wet morning, again cleared beautifully before noon, allowing play to proceed after 1 o’clock, the conditions again being very favourable. There was an increasing attendance present especially when the finals of the men’s championship doubles and mixed championship doubles were being played. A very fine exhibition was given. In the former game Messrs Gooch and Partridge were successful against Messrs O’Connell and llaird. In the mixed doubles Miss Moore and Partridge played Airs .Maxwell and Gooch. This was another line exhibition. Unluckily towards the end of the second set Gooch had the mislortune to put liis knee out, and though it was put back and be played on was noticeably handicapped and his opponents won the deciding set easily.
