THE WARATAHS. RECEPTION AT SANDRINGHAM. (Australian A- N.Z. Cable Association.) RUGBY. Jan. 23. ■The King and Queen received the New South Wales Rugby football team at Sandringham. The team had lunch and tea with their Majesties. WARATAHS’ TOUR. LONDON. Jan. 27. In the distinction of being the most popular Dominion touring side, the Waratahs are likely to return with more material. The record gate money for the twenty-eight matches is expected to yield a total of £(>1,000, including the record against England of £IO.OOO because for the first time the new stand at Twickenham was filled. Other international takings were: against Scotland £BOOO, against 5\ ales £5,000 and against Ireland £-1.5(10. The smallest gate was £3OO against North Scotland.
After deducting the expenses of the tour £1(5.000, and also the entertainments tax £12,200. this means that the Waratahs will and over £32.800 to the British authorities to be divided as follows: England £14.000. Males £9.000. Scotland £3.700. Ireland £4OOO.
This compares with the All Blacks profits of £21.000. The Waratahs will take back Cl.flOf profit from France. £(500 has been guaranteed for the match in Vancouver.
WARATAHS’ PROFITS. (Received this day at 9 a.m.) LONDON. Jan. 27. The Waraths’ expenses are £12,000 and profits £3(5,800.
