In tlie House of Representatives, Mr McClintic, addressing the House, tiescribed Admiral Plunkct’s alleged war talk as an “ idiotic, asinine outburst.” He declared the Admiral’s prophesy of war with Britain had the effect of curtailing and destroying trade relations instead of increasing commerce with friendly nations.

A Chicago message says following the city administration’s attempts to curb crime, and Mayor Thompson’s declaration that gang terrorism must end, a gangster retaliated with dynamite and bombed the homes of Thompson’s closest associates. The first intended victim was Charles Fit/.inorris. the City Controller and the second in office to the Mayor. The front of his home was torn away by dynamite. The bomb was thrown from an automobile. Fitzmorris, with bis wife, son and a maid, were in the house but were uninjured. The second bomb was aimed either at William Reid, powerful in Thompson’s political organisation, or at John Allen, recently a candidate for Alderman. It exploded between their homes but did little dsi.i age. The police immediately started investigations, but are reticent about details. Thompson’s home is constantly under guard. AVIATOR. GAOLED. A message from Naugatuck, Connecticut, states Bert Acosta, the famous Trans-Atlantic aviator, who accompanied Byrd to Paris, was sentenced to five days in gaol when convicted ol violating the State law against low flying.
